Welcome to the web site for 634VGS based at MoD St Athan in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. We provide gliding activities for the Air Cadet Organisation using Vigilant T1 motor-gliders (known in the civilian world as the Grob 109B). We have put together this web site for you to find out more about our school and what we do.  You will find information on the history of the school, our staff, our aircraft, our task and other items of interest.  You will also be able to find out how to join the instructor staff of the school or how to take part in one of our Air Cadet training courses.

Message from the OC, Sqn Ldr E.D. Griffith RAFVR(T)

634 VGS has been operating since December 1944, predominantly at St Athan, and during those 64 years, publicity about us has hitherto been confined to the local area through local press and magazines, etc.  With the introduction of our web site, I hope that we will be able to broadcast our achievements to a wider audience.  The site is intended to give information to the public about what we do, to the Air Cadets in the local area to tell them about our facilities for their training and to our staff as a communication tool.

We are always searching for potential new adult volunteer staff.  If you're interest in joining us, are excited by what you see here, and you would like to be considered for training to become a Civilian Gliding Instructor, please contact me, either via the e-mail address found under the Contact Us tab or by writing to me at the postal address shown, giving information about any flying or gliding experience you might have, and whether you have been involved in any youth organization in the past.  No previous experience is necessary, but a desire to help and train young people, together with a commitment to attend the Squadron on an average of at least 4 weekend days per month are vital.
